Dublin is a city for team sports, from the flashing speed and artistry of Gaelic Football and Hurling at Croke Park to the determined stubbornness of soccer and rugby at Lansdowne Road.

On Sundays, Dubliners themselves turn out to shout for their favourite local football teams. If there is one single thing that stands out about sport in Dublin, whether you talk about rugby internationals at Lansdowne Road, All Ireland Gaelic finals at Croke Park or exciting football events with the local or national teams giving it a go, it is that sport in Dublin is a fun and family event. If the right team doesn't win, well sure there is always next year, or the year after that. For an up to date listing of upcoming sports events in Dublin click here.

The golfer has an array of great courses to choose from. Within an hour of Dublin there are over 50 golf courses ranging from championship links to pay and play courses.

The water sports enthusiast will also find plenty to please in the coastal towns of Fingal and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown. Sailing, kayaking, canoeing are among some of the activities available to the visitor.

Or for those who love all things equestrian why not try a day at the races or head to an equestrian centre and ride out yourself. Why not enjoy the excitement of the Nations Cup at the Dublin Horse Show which takes place each August exhibiting the best of equestrian riders from home and abroad?

While in Dublin why not enjoy a day horse racing at one of the many courses around Dublin. Whether you are an occasional racegoer , or racing is your passion you will enjoy your day to the full and feel part of the fun, excitement, colour and craic that is "Racing in Ireland".

If you prefer to get away from it all, and enjoy the countryside, or if you'd like to stay in the city and get a little gentle excercise, you could try a walking tour. The beautiful Dublin-Wicklow Mountains offer the rambler ample room to roam, while the city and coastal walks offer less strenuous enjoyment.

The sportsman - whether a casual lover of the outdoor life, or a fitness fanatic - will find everything in Dublin that you could need!
